theScore esports Daily is a once-a-day briefing covering the top news stories from around the world of esports.

FaZe Clan bench karrigan

FaZe Clan have officially benched their long-time in-game leader, Finn “karrigan” Andersen, the player announced Sunday on Twitter.

Many felt as if the move was inevitable, given that FaZe's tournament results have gradually worsened over the course of the year. Since winning ESL One Belo Horizonte in June, the team has been eliminated in the group stage of four out of the seven international events they've played.

What's more, in late September it was revealed that Nikola “NiKo” Kovac had taken over as the team's IGL.

The remaining members of FaZe—NiKo, Olof “olofmeister” Kjabjer, Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovacs and Havard “rain” Nygaard—have yet to announce karrigan's replacement.

MIBR reportedly close to felps deal

MIBR are close to signing INTZ member João "felps" Vasconcellos, reports HLTV's Luis "MIRAA" Mira.

This news coincides with last week's report by ESPN's Jacob Wolf that MIBR are looking to return to a full Brazilian roster.

If transferred to MIBR, felps will reunite with his former SK Gaming teammates.

Astralis close out the year as victors of BLAST Pro Series Lisbon

On Sunday, Astralis took first place at the last international CS:GO event of 2018.

The Danish organization ended the year with one final championship victory, dropping only one map to Natus Vincere in the process. Astralis went undefeated in the group stage against Na’Vi, Cloud9, MIBR, FaZe Clan and Ninjas in Pyjamas, and went on to take the best-of-three grand final against Na’Vi 2-1.

As Astralis' claimed their thirteenth trophy of the year, Emil "Magisk" Reif earned his first title as tournament MVP.
